Most vendor benchmarks put Meta CPMs in India at about Rs 50 to Rs 270 per 1,000 impressions and clicks at about Rs 8 to Rs 35, roughly a tenth of global rates. Published cost per lead figures run from about Rs 100 for home services to Rs 1,200 for real estate. Add 18% GST to ad spend billed in India, and plan on at least Rs 20,000 a month for a lead campaign.
Meta ad prices are set in a live auction, so no rate card exists. The figures below come from vendor benchmarks, Meta's own documents and Indian tax sources, each named where it is used. We manage Meta ads for clients, so read our comments with that in mind.
What do Meta ads cost in India in 2026?
Five benchmark sources publish India figures, and they disagree. Superads, which bases its tool on more than $3 billion of anonymised ad spend, reports a median India CPM averaging about $1.35 between July 2025 and July 2026, close to 90% below its global median of about $20.59 (Superads). Its India CPC median averaged about $0.10 over the same period (Superads). At about Rs 95 to the dollar (NewKerala), that is roughly Rs 128 per 1,000 impressions and Rs 10 a click, though its monthly India figures swing widely.
Adligator's 2026 country table gives India a Facebook CPM of $1.00 to $1.80 and an Instagram CPM of $1.50 to $2.80 (Adligator). Vaizle, an Indian analytics vendor, reports Rs 210 CPM and Rs 34 CPC (Vaizle). OwlClaw, an Indian agency publishing its 2025 client data, gives Rs 50 to Rs 120 CPM and Rs 8 to Rs 25 CPC (OwlClaw).
| Source | India CPM | India CPC | Basis |
|---|---|---|---|
| Superads | About Rs 128 average ($1.35) | About Rs 10 average ($0.10) | Monthly medians, July 2025 to July 2026 |
| Adligator | Rs 95 to 266 ($1.00 to $2.80) | Not given | 2026 country table, method not stated |
| AdAmigo | About Rs 247 ($2.60) | About Rs 19 ($0.20) | 2026 projection from late 2025 data |
| Vaizle | Rs 210 | Rs 34 | Vendor analysis, 2024 to 2025 |
| OwlClaw | Rs 50 to 120 | Rs 8 to 25 | One agency's 2025 client data |
USD figures were converted by us at about Rs 95 to the dollar.
Why the India benchmarks disagree
Each source measures a different mix of accounts. A dataset heavy in D2C brands targeting metros will show higher CPMs than one built from app installs across the whole country. Sample size matters as well: Superads' India CPM fell to $0.36 in February 2026 and reached $5.02 in July 2026, a swing that suggests a thin or changing sample.
Definitions differ too. Ads Manager reports CTR on all clicks and on link clicks, and a benchmark using all clicks will look far stronger. Treat any single India number as a rough guide and compare your account against its own history first.
How India compares with the UK, USA, Australia and UAE
India remains one of the cheapest large markets for Meta impressions. AdAmigo's 2026 projections, built from industry benchmarks and late 2025 data, show the gap clearly (AdAmigo).
Cheap impressions are only part of the picture. Indian audiences often need more clicks and more follow-up per sale, so cost per lead and cost per customer are the numbers to compare across markets.
Facebook ads cost per lead in India by industry
Published India cost per lead data is scarce. The most detailed set we found comes from OwlClaw's 2025 client data, which is one agency's accounts and not a market survey (OwlClaw).
The same source reports average CTRs between 0.7% (finance) and 1.3% (ecommerce). For context, WordStream's 2025 study of 726 US lead campaigns found a median cost per lead of $27.66, up from $22.87 the year before, with a 7.72% conversion rate from click to lead (WordStream). Dentists were among the most expensive at $76.71 a lead, and restaurants the cheapest at $3.16.
How campaign objective changes the price
The objective you choose tells Meta whom to show the ad to, and that changes the price. Meta's auction ranks ads on a combination of your bid, its estimate of how likely each person is to take the action you optimise for, and ad quality (Dotidot). People likely to fill in a form are fewer and more contested than people likely to watch a video.
| Objective | CTR (link) | CPC | CPM |
|---|---|---|---|
| Awareness | 0.94% | Not given | $10 to $15 |
| Traffic | 1.71% | $0.70 | $15 to $25 |
| Engagement | 1.42% | $1.06 to $1.72 | $15 to $25 |
| Sales | 1.38% | $1.38 | $20 to $30 |
| Leads | 2.59% | $1.92 | $30 to $45 |
These are AdAmigo's cross-industry figures for 2025 and are not India-specific, but the ratio is the useful part: lead campaigns cost about three times more per impression than awareness (AdAmigo). WordStream's US data shows the same pattern, with a $1.92 click on lead campaigns against $0.70 on traffic campaigns. A cheap traffic campaign that produces no enquiries is the more expensive choice.
Reels vs Feed: which placement costs less?
Reels impressions are usually cheaper. Tinuiti's Q4 2025 report on its US clients found Reels carried 29% of Instagram ad impressions, up from 18% a year earlier, and that feed fell below Reels for the first time. It credits lower-CPM inventory such as Reels for a 7% year-on-year fall in Meta CPMs that quarter (Tinuiti).
In India, OwlClaw reports Instagram Reels clicks at Rs 8 to Rs 18 against Rs 14 to Rs 28 on the Instagram feed. Reels tend to get fewer clicks per view, though: AdAmigo's placement data shows a 0.76% CTR on Instagram Reels against 1.01% on the Instagram feed.
Creative decides most of the gap. Metricool reports Meta's guidance that Reels ads in full-screen 9:16 with sound, and with text kept clear of the bottom of the screen, can deliver a 34.5% lower cost per result (Metricool). We usually leave Advantage+ placements on and judge each placement by cost per lead.
How Diwali and the festive season move Meta ad costs
More advertisers enter the auction in October and November, and prices usually rise. Industry leaders quoted by Storyboard18 expected India's festive digital ad spend to grow 20% to 25% in 2025, with social and influencer spend up 35% to 40% (Storyboard18). Worldwide, Meta reported a 12% rise in average price per ad and a 14% rise in ad impressions in Q2 2026 (Meta).
How much India CPMs rise is disputed:
- Razorpay Rize says Meta CPMs rise sharply through Diwali and cites a home decor brand whose acquisition cost went from Rs 450 to Rs 720 in October (Razorpay Rize).
- Vaizle states a 50% to 70% rise in October without publishing the data.
- Productgrowth, which aggregates analyst figures, says costs roughly triple around sale events (Productgrowth).
- Superads' India median CPM actually fell from $1.58 in October 2025 to $0.72 in November, while its global median peaked in November.
For a retailer, festive demand usually justifies higher prices. For a clinic, a CA firm or a B2B supplier, the busiest auction weeks are often the time to reduce spend and return in late November. With Diwali on 8 November 2026, plan festive creative early and expect the most expensive days just before it.
What do click-to-WhatsApp ads cost?
The ad is bought like any other Meta ad, so you pay for impressions and judge it on cost per conversation started. The messages are billed separately on the WhatsApp Business Platform.
Meta moved to per-message pricing on 1 July 2025 and does not charge for messages users send to a business (Meta for Developers). When someone messages you from a click-to-WhatsApp ad on the Android or iOS app and you reply within the 24-hour service window, a free entry point window opens. Marketing, utility, authentication and service messages in that window are free, and Meta's current documentation says it can stay open for up to 7 days. Older guides describe a 72-hour window (SleekFlow), so check the window your provider applies.
Three India-specific changes matter. Marketing message rates for India rose on 1 January 2026. Since 1 October 2026, service messages beyond 1,000 free per number each month are charged. Businesses billed directly in India must move messaging accounts to INR billing by 31 December 2026. Meta also requires a GSTIN on the ad account before an Indian business can add a payment method for WhatsApp (360dialog).
GST on Meta ads in India
Advertising services carry 18% GST, with no lower rate for digital advertising (Taxgarden). When Meta's Indian entity bills you, GST appears on the invoice and a registered business can usually claim it as input tax credit once it shows in GSTR-2B (TAXAJ).
If a foreign Meta entity bills a registered business without GST, it counts as an import of services. The business pays 18% IGST under reverse charge and can generally claim the same amount back as credit. For unregistered advertisers, Taxgarden notes that foreign platforms have had to charge Indian GST themselves since 1 October 2023. The separate 6% equalisation levy on online ads was abolished from 1 April 2025 (YourStory).
| Monthly item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ad spend | Rs 20,000 |
| GST at 18% | Rs 3,600 |
| Total charged by Meta | Rs 23,600 |
| Credit for a GST-registered business | Usually Rs 3,600 back as ITC |
Agency fees also carry 18% GST. Our guide to social media marketing cost in Ahmedabad covers management fees and how they sit alongside ad spend.
How much budget does a small business need for Meta ads?
Start from the learning phase. Meta expects an ad set to record about 50 of its chosen optimisation events within seven days before delivery settles, and ad sets that fall short are marked Learning Limited (PPC Land). The table shows what 50 leads a week costs at different lead prices.
| Cost per lead | Weekly spend for 50 leads | Monthly spend | Monthly with 18% GST |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rs 100 | Rs 5,000 | About Rs 21,700 | About Rs 25,600 |
| Rs 200 | Rs 10,000 | About Rs 43,300 | About Rs 51,100 |
| Rs 400 | Rs 20,000 | About Rs 86,700 | About Rs 1,02,300 |
| Rs 800 | Rs 40,000 | About Rs 1,73,300 | About Rs 2,04,500 |
Many small businesses start below this and still get enquiries, but the account learns more slowly. We suggest at least Rs 20,000 a month in ad spend for a local lead campaign, run through one ad set with a broad audience so the data is not split. If the budget cannot reach 50 leads a week, optimising for WhatsApp conversations or link clicks gathers data faster, as long as you then track which conversations become customers.
How to read your Meta ads numbers
Each metric feeds the next. CPC equals CPM divided by the number of clicks per 1,000 impressions, so a Rs 150 CPM at a 1% CTR (10 clicks) gives a Rs 15 click. If 8% of those clicks become leads, each lead costs about Rs 188.
When the cost per lead rises, find where the chain broke. A rising CPM points to auction pressure or audience size. A falling CTR usually means tired creative. A falling conversion rate points to the landing page, the form or the WhatsApp reply speed.
The final measure is cost per customer. A Rs 300 lead that never buys costs more than a Rs 900 lead that does, so record which leads close. Our Google and Meta ads service sets up that tracking before any campaign goes live.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average CPM for Meta ads in India?+
Most vendor benchmarks put it between about Rs 50 and Rs 270 per 1,000 impressions in 2025 and 2026. Instagram usually costs more than Facebook, and lead campaigns cost more than awareness campaigns. Compare your account against its own history as well as these ranges.
How much does a Facebook ad cost per lead in India?+
One Indian agency's 2025 client data shows about Rs 100 to Rs 250 for home services, Rs 180 to Rs 450 for healthcare and education, and Rs 600 to Rs 1,200 for real estate. Your figure depends on the offer, the form and how fast leads are called back.
Is GST charged on Facebook and Instagram ads in India?+
Yes. Advertising carries 18% GST, so Rs 20,000 of ad spend billed by Meta India costs Rs 23,600. A GST-registered business can usually claim the GST back as input tax credit.
Are Instagram Reels ads cheaper than feed ads?+
Usually per impression, and often per click. Reels tend to get a lower click-through rate, so compare placements on cost per lead.
Do Meta ads cost more during Diwali?+
Usually, though sources disagree on how much, from no visible rise in one dataset to roughly triple in another. Retailers often accept the higher price, while service businesses may do better cutting spend in the peak weeks.
What is the minimum budget for Meta ads in India?+
We suggest at least Rs 20,000 a month for a local lead campaign. To give one ad set about 50 leads a week at Rs 200 a lead, plan on about Rs 43,000 a month before GST.
