Website development cost in Ahmedabad: a 2026 price guide

Quick answer

We're Digital Web Mania, and we get asked this every week. A basic business site in Ahmedabad typically costs Rs 25,000 to 45,000. Want WordPress with a blog? Think Rs 45,000 to 80,000. A Shopify or WooCommerce store is Rs 40,000 to 1.5 lakh, and custom web apps start at Rs 1.5 lakh. Domain, hosting and maintenance come on top.

Ask five developers in Ahmedabad what a website costs and you'll hear five numbers somewhere between Rs 8,000 and Rs 8 lakh. Are four of them lying? Probably not. They've just priced different jobs, and hardly anyone writes down what's left out.

So here's how I'd break down website development cost in Ahmedabad: the price by type of site, what pushes it up, the yearly bills nobody mentions in the first meeting, and the questions that make two quotes comparable. Fair warning: we build websites for a living. I've tried to write what I'd want to read as a buyer.

How much does a website cost in Ahmedabad in 2026?

For the first build, most of the shop owners and small firms who walk into our Satellite office end up somewhere from Rs 25,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh. Here's a rough idea of where you'd land.

Type of website What you typically get Typical price Typical timeline
Basic business site 5 to 8 pages on WordPress or similar, contact form, WhatsApp button, Google Map, basic on-page SEO Rs 25,000 to 45,000 2 to 3 weeks
WordPress site with blog 10 to 20 pages, custom design, blog, service pages, schema, speed tuning, simple CRM or email integration Rs 45,000 to 80,000 3 to 6 weeks
Online store (Shopify or WooCommerce) Theme setup or custom theme, product upload, Razorpay or similar gateway, shipping and GST settings, 20 to 200 products Rs 40,000 to 1.5 lakh 3 to 8 weeks
Custom web app Portals, dashboards, booking systems or SaaS built in React JS or ASP.NET, with login and a database From Rs 1.5 lakh, often Rs 3 to 10 lakh 2 to 6 months

These are typical agency numbers in Ahmedabad, before GST. A freelancer will often come in lower, and the big SG Highway agencies with sales teams and account managers usually come in higher. Is either one wrong? Not automatically.

What drives the cost of a website?

Scope. And scope hides in the small print, so let me walk through what actually moves a quote.

First, how many unique page designs you're getting. Ten pages built off two templates cost far less than ten pages each designed from scratch, so ask how many distinct layouts the quote really covers.

Then there's the theme question. A decent premium theme, adjusted to your brand colours and fonts, is honestly fine for plenty of businesses. Designing in Figma first and then building costs more, and it looks more like you. If a theme will do the job, we'll say so.

Who writes the content? This one catches people out every time. The developer expects you to send all the text and photos, the quote looks cheap, and then the project sits for three weeks while you try to write your "About us" page at midnight.

Integrations add up quickly too. Razorpay, Tally, a CRM, the WhatsApp Business API, Shiprocket, some ERP your accountant swears by: each one tends to add a few days.

Gujarati is another one people underestimate. A proper Gujarati version isn't a translation plugin. You need Gujarati fonts that render properly, separate SEO for it, and somebody who actually writes good Gujarati (not Google Translate).

And finally, who's building it. A college student freelancing on the side, a two-person studio and an agency with designers, developers and an SEO team will all price the same site very differently. They'll also answer the phone very differently a year later.

What hidden costs should you budget for?

The build is only the first bill. Every website has running costs each year, and a lot of quotes simply leave them out.

Cost Typical amount Notes
Domain name (.com or .in) Rs 700 to 1,500 per year Register it in your own name, never the developer's
Hosting Rs 3,000 to 10,000 per year shared; Rs 1,000 to 4,000 per month managed or cloud Cheap shared hosting is the most common cause of slow sites
SSL certificate Free (Let's Encrypt) to Rs 6,000 per year Most good hosts include it free
Premium plugins or Shopify apps Rs 3,000 to 20,000 per year Shopify apps are often billed in dollars every month
Shopify plan Roughly Rs 1,500 to 2,000 per month on Basic Check Shopify's current India pricing
Payment gateway fees Around 2% per transaction on standard plans Charged by Razorpay, PayU and others
Maintenance and updates Rs 2,000 to 8,000 per month, or an annual contract Updates, backups, security checks, small edits
Content writing Rs 1,000 to 3,000 per page Extra if the developer doesn't include it
Photography Rs 10,000 to 30,000 for a half-day shoot; product shoots priced per image Stock photos of smiling strangers hurt trust
GST 18% on agency invoices Confirm whether quotes include it

Add that up and a typical WordPress business site needs something like Rs 15,000 to 40,000 a year to run properly after launch. I'm not saying that to scare you. That money is what keeps the site fast, backed up and not hacked.

Is a cheap website worth the risk?

Sometimes, sure. If you've just started a home bakery and you need a menu and a WhatsApp button, a Rs 10,000 site is perfectly sensible. The trouble starts when a growing business treats its website as a one-time purchase and buys purely on price.

When somebody brings us a cheap site to fix, here's what we usually find.

It's slow. Heavy page builders, uncompressed photos and Rs 99-a-month hosting mean the site takes eight seconds to open on Jio 4G, and most visitors won't wait that long.

It gets hacked. Pirated ("nulled") themes and plugins often come with malware already baked in. Some of the most stressful calls we get are from owners whose site suddenly redirects to a betting page, and the developer has stopped answering.

There's no SEO foundation. No proper headings, no meta titles, no schema, no Search Console. The site exists, but Google barely knows it's there.

And you don't actually own it. The domain sits under the developer's Gmail, the hosting login is theirs, and you've got no admin access. Want to move? Now it's a negotiation.

We learned this the expensive way: rebuilding after two years of a bad site costs more than doing it properly once, because you've also lost two years of SEO you could have had.

What should you ask a web developer before hiring?

Ask these before you pay a single rupee of advance. A good developer will answer them without getting touchy.

  • So how many different page designs am I actually getting, and how many times can I ask for changes?
  • Who's writing the text, me or you? And the photos?
  • Whose name goes on the domain and hosting, and do I get the admin password?
  • Is that theme bought and licensed, or something downloaded from a random site?
  • Are you doing the basic SEO bits (titles, headings, schema, sitemap, Search Console), or is that "extra"?
  • Open it on my phone right now. How long does it take? Can I see the PageSpeed score?
  • Once it's live, how long do you fix things free, and what do you charge after that?
  • Could you show me three sites you made over a year ago that are still running?

That last one tells you a lot. A site that's still fast and still running two years on shows you how someone really builds.

How do you compare website quotes fairly?

Put all the quotes on one sheet and compare the scope line by line. Not the total at the bottom.

This is how I'd go through each quote, in this order:

  1. Count the pages and the unique designs. Get them equal before you even look at price.
  2. See whether content writing, photos and product upload are included or charged extra. This is where cheap quotes usually hide the gap.
  3. Hosting, domain, SSL for year one. One quote has them in, another adds them later, and the third just doesn't say? Ask.
  4. Look for GST. A Rs 50,000 quote "plus GST" is really Rs 59,000, which is a different conversation.
  5. Then the money schedule. Plenty of decent studios ask for 40% to start, 40% once you've okayed the design and the last 20% when the site goes live. Somebody wants the full amount on day one? I wouldn't.
  6. Ask how long they'll fix bugs for free after launch. A month is the minimum I'd accept, and three is nicer.
  7. Make them put it in writing that the domain, the accounts and the source files are yours.

Once the scopes match, the gap between quotes usually shrinks a lot. If it doesn't? Ask the cheaper developer what they've left out. Often they'll just tell you.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 5-page website cost in Ahmedabad?+

Usually Rs 25,000 to 45,000 if an agency builds it. For that you'd expect the design, a layout that works on phones, a contact form and the basic SEO done. A freelancer may say Rs 8,000 to 20,000, and often that's a ready-made theme with your text pasted in (which is fine if that's what you want). Before you compare, find out who's paying for the domain, the hosting and the writing.

How long does it take to build a website?+

Two to three weeks for a basic business site, give or take. Add a blog on WordPress and you're looking at 3 to 6 weeks; a store takes 3 to 8, and a custom app can run 2 to 6 months. What slows things down, nine times out of ten? Not us. It's the photos that haven't come yet and the director who's away in Dubai and needs to approve the homepage.

Is WordPress or Shopify cheaper?+

Depends what you sell. A CA, a clinic or a consultant will nearly always spend less on WordPress. Shopify has a monthly plan fee and the apps add up, but selling products on it is easy and there's less to go wrong technically. So if you've got three hundred SKUs and two people running the whole show, I'd usually say Shopify ends up cheaper, simply because of the time you won't waste.

What does website maintenance cost per year?+

Somewhere around Rs 2,000 to 8,000 a month here, or Rs 20,000 to 80,000 if you'd rather pay yearly, and the bigger the site, the higher you go. What should that buy you? Updates, backups (daily or weekly), someone keeping an eye on security and downtime, and a few small text or photo changes each month without a fresh bill every time.

Do I own my website after it's built?+

You should, but only if the contract says so. The domain must be in your company's name and the hosting in your own account. Once the last payment's done, ask for the admin login and the source files. A developer who keeps finding reasons not to share the passwords? Red flag.

Should I pay the full amount in advance?+

Please don't. Paying in parts is normal (40% to start, 40% on design sign-off and 20% at go-live is a common split), and bigger jobs follow milestones. A new developer wants everything before writing a line of code? Walk away.
