UGC video agency in India for ads that don't look like ads

UGC video agency in India for D2C brands: creators, scripts, shoots and ad-ready edits in English, Hindi and Gujarati. From Rs 3,000/video. +91-8155883039

Quick answer

We're Digital Web Mania, a UGC video agency in India working out of Ahmedabad, and we make short creator-style videos you can run as Meta and YouTube ads or post as reels. We'll find the creators, write the hooks and scripts, look after the shoot, cut several versions of each video and get the usage rights signed. Most videos come in at Rs 3,000 to 15,000 each.

Illustration of three vertical UGC video ads on phone screens

Your customer can smell a glossy brand ad in half a second. Thumb, flick, gone. But a girl in her own kitchen, holding your jar of masala and chatting like she's on the phone to her sister? She gets a few more seconds. On Instagram, those few seconds decide whether anyone hears your offer at all.

That's UGC. The letters stand for user-generated content, though honestly "creator-made video that feels like a customer video" is closer to the truth. As a UGC video agency in India we handle the whole thing for D2C brands and apps, from picking creators to handing over edited ads with captions in English, Hindi or Gujarati. And because our own performance team runs ads too, we get to see which videos actually sell and which ones only collect likes.

What is UGC video and why does it work in ads?

It's a short video, usually shot on a phone, of a real person using, reviewing or showing off your product, made for your brand to post and run as ads. Why does it work? Mostly because it looks like everything else in the feed, so people are already watching before the little voice in their head says "ah, an ad".

There's the money, too. Ten UGC videos usually cost less than one day of a crew shoot. Meta's ad system rewards you for testing lots of creatives, and UGC is what makes testing 10 hooks affordable instead of 2. A creator who looks like your buyer (a working mother in Pune, a college student in Ahmedabad) is simply more believable than a model in a studio. And when a festive offer comes up, you can go from script to live ad in about a week.

Is UGC magic, then? Not at all. A bad product with good UGC still comes back as returns. UGC ads also wear out faster than brand films, so you'll want a steady flow of new videos rather than one lucky hit.

Our UGC production pipeline

  1. Brief and research. We go through your product, your reviews, your competitors' ads in the Meta Ad Library and, our favourite, the questions customers keep asking you on WhatsApp. That's where the best hooks usually hide.
  2. Creator sourcing. We shortlist creators from our network who match your buyer in age, city, language and general look. Nobody gets booked until you've approved the list.
  3. Scripts and hooks. Each video gets a script plus 3 to 5 different opening lines. The first three seconds decide most of the result, so honestly, the hooks get more of our time than anything else.
  4. Product dispatch and briefing. We sort out shipping the product to each creator and send them a shot list, the script and a short list of don'ts (no competitor logos, no medical claims, nothing you can't back up).
  5. Shoot. Creators film at home or out on location on their own phones, following the shot list. If you're an Ahmedabad brand, we can be there in person to keep an eye on it.
  6. Edit. Our editors cut the footage and add captions, product close-ups, on-screen text and music that's properly licensed for ads.
  7. Variants. Every video comes with its hook variants and in 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1, so your ad account has real options to test.
  8. Delivery and review. Files land in a shared folder with names a human can understand. If we're running your ads too, what the first batch teaches us goes straight into the next scripts.

Gujarati and Hindi UGC creators

We work with creators who speak Gujarati, Hindi and English natively, and Hinglish when that's how your audience talks. Language is one of the cheapest things you can test in UGC. It's also one of the most ignored, which still surprises me.

If you're selling khakhra or chaniya cholis mostly inside Gujarat, a creator who sounds like your customer's own bhabhi will beat a polished English script nine times out of ten. Selling across India? Hindi or Hinglish usually gets you more reach for the rupee. I always say the same thing on the first call. Shoot two languages in batch one, and let the ad account settle the argument.

Oh, and captions. Plenty of people watch Reels on mute, in the office or on the bus, so every video gets captions burned in. Mixed audience? We'll put English subtitles under the Gujarati.

Who owns UGC videos? Usage rights explained

You do. Before a single frame is shot, each creator signs our usage agreement. It says where you're allowed to use the video (your page, your ads), for how long, and whether their name or handle can show up.

Skip this and you'll regret it. Picture a video that's finally selling, and you want it running till next Diwali. Without written rights, the creator can ask you to pull it in month two, or ask for more money right when it's working. Our standard agreement covers paid usage on Meta and YouTube for an agreed period, usually 6 or 12 months, with an option to extend. Want perpetual rights? They cost more, and we'll quote them if you need them.

Creators also have to stay within the ASCI advertising code. So no false claims like "I lost 6 kilos in a week", no medical promises for food or wellness products, and an honest disclosure whenever a creator posts on their own profile.

UGC vs influencer marketing: which one do you need?

With UGC, you're paying a creator to make content for your channels and your ads. With influencer marketing, you're paying for a post on their profile, to their audience. Different jobs, really, as the table shows.

UGC video Influencer marketing
Where it's posted Your page and your ad account The creator's own profile
What you pay for The content and usage rights Access to the creator's followers
Follower count needed Doesn't matter Matters a lot
Typical cost per video Rs 3,000 to 15,000 From a few thousand to several lakh per post
Best for Paid ads, testing offers, product pages Awareness, launches, social proof
Control over message High; we script it Lower; creators protect their own voice
Measurable sales Yes, through ad tracking Harder; mostly coupon codes and reach

Plenty of brands do both: influencer posts for the launch buzz, UGC running as ads for months afterwards.

Who UGC suits, and who should skip it

It suits anything people can see, hold or try. Snacks and packaged food, skincare, fashion and jewellery, kitchen gadgets and consumer apps all do well. It also works for local services where trust is the hurdle, like a dental clinic in Bodakdev, a coaching class or a home cleaning service.

There are times we'll tell you not to bother. If you sell B2B with a long sales cycle, a plant manager signing off on a Rs 40 lakh machine isn't going to be swayed by someone holding a phone, and a founder-led LinkedIn video or a proper demo film will do far more. If your ad account isn't set up or your site doesn't convert, fix that first, because great UGC pointed at a slow site just burns money faster. Medicines, financial schemes and other heavily regulated products need legal sign-off on every claim, which makes UGC painful. And if you're a luxury label that lives on glossy shoots? UGC probably isn't for you.

Can brands outside India use our UGC service?

They can, if the buyers are in India. Plenty of brands from the UK, the USA, Australia and the UAE now sell here through their own site, Amazon India or a distributor, and a creator from Pune talking in Hinglish will sell to Indian shoppers far better than your US ad with subtitles. We handle creators, scripts, shipping inside India and the rights paperwork, and you approve everything in a shared folder from your own time zone.

What we don't do is pose as a US or UK creator network. If your ads run to shoppers in London or Texas, you want creators who live there, and I'd rather say so than send you Indian creators putting on an accent. Overseas brands get a custom quote; our other overseas plans are on the pricing page.

How much does a UGC video cost in India?

With us, a UGC video in India typically runs Rs 3,000 to 15,000, depending on the creator, how involved the script is, and how many edits and variants you want. Monthly batches bring the per-video cost down.

So what pushes it up or down? The creator, mainly. Someone doing their first UGC job costs less than a person with a strong on-camera record. Shooting at home is cheaper than in a gym or a store. More hook variants and more aspect ratios add a bit, and 12 months of paid usage costs more than 6. If your product is expensive or awkward to ship, that adds to the bill too.

A crew, a studio day and a model can easily cross Rs 1 lakh for one or two films. For ad testing, I'd take ten decent videos over two beautiful ones.

How many UGC videos should you start with?

Four to six videos, each with 2 or 3 hook variants, is where I'd begin. That's 10 to 15 ads, enough for Meta to find a winner and for you to learn something. One video is a coin toss. It flops, and you've learnt nothing.

From there, let the numbers pick the next batch. Most of our brands end up making 6 to 12 fresh videos a month. Winners get tired. Ask anyone who's run the same ad through a whole wedding season.

Frequently asked questions

Do UGC creators post the video on their own profile?+

Usually not, and that's the whole difference. The video's made for your Instagram page, your website and your ad account, and the creator gets paid for the content and the rights, not their reach. Want them to post it to their followers too? Then it becomes an influencer post, with its own fee and an ASCI disclosure. We can set up both and put it all in writing.

Can I choose the creators?+

Of course, it's your brand. You'll see a shortlist with samples, language, city and rate for each person, and you decide. If you're picturing a newly married couple or a dadi who cooks, tell us up front. Changed your mind after seeing a sample? Fine, as long as the shoot hasn't happened.

How long does a UGC batch take?+

First batch, about 10 to 15 working days from brief sign-off to final edits. Annoyingly, 2 to 4 of those are just couriers. After that it's quicker, often 7 to 10 days, because we already know your creators and your rules. Festive rush? Ping us a month early and we'll squeeze it in.

Do I need to send products to every creator?+

For physical products, you do. A creator can't unbox, show or use something they don't have. You can drop products at our Ahmedabad office or ship straight to each creator, and we'll track who's received what. Apps and services are simpler, because creators only need access, like a test login or a booking, and we sort that out with you.

Can UGC videos run as Meta and YouTube ads?+

That's the whole point of them. We export vertical cuts for Reels and Shorts plus square and 4:5 for the feed, and we keep text away from where Instagram puts its like and share buttons. Paid use is already in the creator's signed agreement, so there's no awkward second ask.

Do you also run the ads?+

Many of our UGC clients let us, yes. Our performance team runs Meta and Google Ads, and that closes the loop nicely: we see which hooks and creators bring in purchases at a decent cost, then write the next batch around them. Prefer to run ads in-house? No problem. We'll send our testing suggestions along with the files.

What if a UGC video doesn't perform?+

Then it doesn't, and that's fine. Every batch has a couple of stars and a few duds. That's why you get several videos and several hooks, not one. If the problem is ours (bad sound, wobbly framing), we fix it or reshoot. If the video's fine and the ad just didn't click, that lesson goes into the next scripts.

Can I get the raw footage?+

Sure, just ask. On normal batches we don't charge for it. Your team might want to cut new versions later, or lift a product shot for the website. The odd creator wants extra if raw files come with forever-rights, but we'll tell you in the quote.

Do you make UGC for services and apps as well as products?+

Yes, and apps are some of our favourites. The creator films their face plus their screen while using the feature, and suddenly it makes sense in 20 seconds. For a salon or a coaching class, they film an actual visit (with everyone's permission). Real person, real problem, honest result.

Do you work with brands based outside India?+

We do, as long as the videos are for Indian audiences. You ship product to our Ahmedabad office or straight to the creators, approve the shortlist and scripts online, and collect files from a shared folder. Overseas brands get quoted in US dollars. Calls fit your afternoon in Australia, your morning in the UK, and an early or late slot in the States.
